Our customer had a very old original Aquamax gas storage hot water system. It was over 20 years old and still working satisfactorily, however it was due for replacement. Our customer’s plan was to transition off gas as the house was powered by a substantial PV solar array on the roof. The hot water was the first gas appliance to be eliminated.
After careful consideration, our customer decided to install a Reclaim split heat pump controlled by wifi instead of a good quality all in one system. We call this a considered purchase, we would rather someone take their time, research, ask us questions and then have installed the best system they can afford that suits their needs.
The installation required us to adequately install concrete bases for the tank and condenser. We use a concrete mix under these so they do not move later. You can see from the original hot water, it had tilted to one side. We then install the condenser on supports to get it off the ground so it has adequate ventilation.
The old gas line is appropriately capped and all the water plumbing is lagged and new valves are installed. This installation also has a tempering valve installed so the delivered hot water does not exceed 50°C.
Once installed we sync the system to the household wifi and assist the customer and explain operation with the app on the chosen smart device.
The customer can now see what temperature the water is, set preset or custom time periods for the system to operate and if required, click the boost button all from the convenience of their smart device.
This Reclaim system installed has a 10 year tank warranty and now 10 years on the controller and condenser assembly. This 10 year warranty is for wifi systems.

We arranged all 3 rebates on this job and as part of the process the old system was decommissioned and environmentally recycled via the local metal recycler. By the time we had packed up and explained to the customer how the system operates, there was enough usable hot water for the customer.
