Aquamax Gas Storage to Wilson Aqualux Split Heat Pump
Wilson Aqualux Heat Pump WHPS-315A
This case study showcases a Wilson Aqualux heat pump installation. As a newly appointed dealer, we wanted to highlight an example installation carried out by another Wilson authorised installer, which we attended as part of our training program.
We choose to work only with manufacturers committed to proper training and after sales support, and Wilson Industries has exceeded our expectations. Their comprehensive product training and tour of the Bayswater manufacturing facility demonstrated their dedication to quality and support.

The customer at this property where the Wilson Aqualux was installed previously had an Aquamax gas storage hot water system. While it was still operating satisfactorily, they planned to transition away from gas, as the home would soon be powered by a substantial rooftop PV solar array.
We have installed dozens of split heat pumps, and the Wilson system is similar in its installation requirements. The compressor mounts on the side of the tank, ideally the left, though this isn’t critical. As always, the tank is installed on a solid concrete slab. You can refer to our other case studies for more examples of our split heat pump installations.
In line with Wilson Installation requirements, we install a pressure limiting valve on the cold water inlet, and we always include a tempering valve to ensure delivered hot water does not exceed 50°C.
This system is as quiet as advertised in the brochure, definitely one of the quiet systems on the market. Â
A key advantage of the Wilson Aqualux is that it does not require a backup or booster element, unlike many integrated or all-in-one heat pumps. The compressor assembly delivers heated water directly into the tank at a mid-level point, allowing usable hot water to be available much more quickly than with all-in-one systems.
A premium product deserves a professional installation. A job like this often typically takes close to a full day and uses high quality materials throughout. Â
Installing split heat pumps can be labour intensive. Leave it to The Hot Water Man for a smooth, worry free installation. We fully explain how the system works at the end of the job and Trent will assist you with syncing your phone and wifi to the system.
If you’re looking to invest in a reliable, locally manufactured heat pump hot water system that also qualifies for the $1400 locally manufactured rebate then the Wilson Aqualux is well worth considering.
It’s the affordable ultimate hot water system. Â
